# Create an event

> Take an event from a blank form to a published, sellable page

Creating an event in TixFix is a two-step wizard. The first step covers what the event *is* — title, description, dates, venue. The second covers what people *buy* — ticket categories, the registration form, and publishing.

This page is the map. Each section links to a detailed guide for that part of the form.

## Before you start

<Info>
  If you plan to charge for tickets, connect Stripe first. Paid ticket categories cannot sell without it. See [Connect Stripe](/payments/connect-stripe).
</Info>

Have ready:

* A cover image at 1200 × 800 px, under 5 MB, in JPG, PNG, or GIF format.
* The venue address.
* Your ticket tiers, quantities, and prices.

    The page shows an example prompt to copy the style — something like a relaxed BBQ at a named park on a given date, with a note about the tone you want.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Write the title and description">
    `Event Title` is what attendees scan first; 80 characters or fewer is recommended. The `Event Description` supports rich text and appears at the top of your public event page.
