# Assign a promoter

> Invite someone to sell tickets for an event and set their deal

Assigning a promoter is a three-step wizard. You identify the person and the event, set their commission and allocation, then review and send the invite.

<Info>
  The event you want must already exist and be upcoming. The event picker in step 1 only offers events that are still ahead of you.

## After sending

The promoter appears on your [roster](/promoters/track-performance) with a status reflecting that they have been invited but have not yet accepted. Once they accept, they can start selling and their sales begin counting against their allocation.

## They didn't get the invite

Check the spelling of the email address on the roster first — a typo is by far the most common cause. Ask them to check spam. If it still hasn't arrived, see [Promoters FAQ](/faq/promoters).
